Les naufragés de Lesbos - chapître 1 - L'arrivée
Depuis la construction d'un mur le long de la frontière terrestre entre la Turquie et la Grèce au nord-est du pays, les îles de la mer Egée sont devenues les principaux points d'entrée de migrants.
L'île de Lesbos, toute proche des côtes turques, est le théâtre bien malgré elle d'échouages massifs de réfugiés en provenance de zones
de guerre, (syriens, mais aussi afghans, irakiens ou pakistanais) qui tentent de gagner l'Europe par ses côtes.
En moyenne 300 arrivées par jour que les autorités ont du mal à gérer n'ayant pas de structure adaptée. Il y a bien le centre de premier accueil de Moria, un camp fermé aux conditions dures mais avec un point d'eau et au moins un repas par jour, qui peut accueillir environ 700 personnes. Mais l'afflux est tel, que beaucoup ont investi les alentours improvisant un camp de fortune dans des conditions sanitaires déplorables, où affamés, parfois malades ou déshydratés ils attendent en plein soleil qu'on statu sur leur sort. Pour pallier à cette situation, la mairie de Mytilène, la capitale de l'île, a mis un terrain à disposition, Kara Tepe, mais qui est lui aussi surpeuplé.
Les réfugiés sont enregistrés à la police du port et attendent le fameux sésame vers Athènes : Un avis de non-expulsion valable de 40 jours à 6 mois les autorisant à circuler librement et prendre le ferry pour le Pirée. Le début d'un nouveau parcours du combattant qui leur fera passer la Macedoine, la Serbie, la Hongrie afin d'atteindre peut-être l'Allemagne, les Pays-Bas ou la Suède où ils entameront la longue procédure de demande d'asile.

Since the construction of a wall along the land border between Turkey and Greece in the northeast of the country, the islands of the Aegean Sea have become the main entry points for migrants.
The island of Lesbos, very close to the Turkish coast, is the scene, in spite of itself, of massive strandings of refugees from war zones (Syrians, Turks, etc.).
(Syrians, but also Afghans, Iraqis or Pakistanis) who try to reach Europe through its coasts.
On average 300 arrivals per day that the authorities have difficulty in managing because they have no suitable structure. There is the first reception center of Moria, a closed camp with harsh conditions but with a water point and at least one meal a day, which can accommodate about 700 people. But the influx is so great that many have moved into the surrounding area, improvising a makeshift camp in deplorable sanitary conditions, where starving, sometimes sick or dehydrated, they wait in the sun for a decision on their fate. To alleviate this situation, the town hall of Mytilene, the capital of the island, has made available a plot of land, Kara Tepe, but it too is overcrowded.
The refugees are registered at the port police and are waiting for the famous sesame to Athens: a notice of non-expulsion valid from 40 days to 6 months authorizing them to move freely and take the ferry to Piraeus. This is the beginning of a new obstacle course that will take them through Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary and perhaps Germany, the Netherlands or Sweden, where they will begin the long procedure of applying for asylum.
