Plantés sur de petits espaces selon la méthode Miyawaki, ces petits poumons verts (constitués d'une trentaine d'essences locales spontanées par parcelle) permettent de ramener au coeur des villes de minis écosystèmes végétaux qui s'inspirent des mécanismes d'une forêt naturelle et permettent aux hommes, femmes et enfants des villes de bénéficier des nombreux bénéfices de l'arbre. En outre, ces petites forêts participent activement à la restauration des sols dégradés.
