Birmanie : dans une briqueterie, une communauté au pied d'argile
Un champ de briques attend à être séché. Des habitations de fortunes, éphémères, sont venues marquer la limite d?une carrière d?argile à la sortie de Hpa-An, en Birmanie. Des coups de pioches rythment l?exploitation, quand la rotation des porteuses en fait la danse. Nous sommes au c?ur d?une communauté d?une trentaine de familles, se retrouvant chaque année pour une saison de six mois, dans la usine de briques. Ici, chaque membre à son utilité dans la chaîne de productions, quand l?âge définit le poste. Si cette exploitation donne du travail aux plus jeunes, elle l?interdit aux moins de 13 ans, offre deux jours de repos par semaine et restreint la plage horaire. Des règles bienvenues pour une enfance aux pieds d?argile. En 2013, 168 M d?enfants dans le monde seraient concernés par le travail, dont 85 Millions dans des conditions dangereuses selon le Bureau International du Travail
Burma: in a brick factory, a community with feet of clay
A field of bricks waits to be dried. Ephemeral makeshift dwellings have come to mark the edge of a clay quarry outside Hpa-An, Burma. The rhythm of the quarry is set by the rhythm of the pickaxes, while the rotation of the porters makes the dance. We are in the heart of a community of about thirty families, who meet every year for a six-month season in the brick factory. Here, each member has a role to play in the production chain, where age defines the position. If this operation gives work to the youngest, it forbids it to those under 13 years old, offers two days off per week and restricts the working hours. These are welcome rules for a childhood with feet of clay. In 2013, 168 million children in the world were involved in child labour, 85 million of them in dangerous conditions according to the International Labour Office.
