Dans nos imaginaires, nous nous représentons l’usine telle une ruche hyper-active, où bras articulés et ouvriers bougent, s'activent, s'affairent et se hâtent. Dans nos imaginaires, la grève vient transférer cette énergie dans le conflit avec la direction, la lutte contre le gouvernement, les tensions avec les non gréviste, les affrontements avec la police, les actions syndicales et autres AG.
Si cette réalité existe, elle n'occupe pourtant pas la totalité du temps du gréviste. Elle n'est pas la totalité de la vie de l'usine à l’arrêt. Elle n’en est même qu'une partie assez relative.
Les chaines à l'arrêt et les ouvriers chômant sont une évidences (même si cela est moins documenté que les tensions émaillant un mouvement de grève). Il est rarement rendu compte de l'espace déserté, du vide qui emplit le bâtiment et les journées, du désoeuvrement et de l'ennui qui rodent et que l'on cherche à tromper.
Il règne dans ces lieux abandonnés, une atmosphère de fin d'un monde, celui du monde ouvrier que les intérêts financiers cherchent a euthanasier. Et dans cette effondrement, restent des personnes prises dans la nasse : angoissées, parfois résignées, mais souvent, refusant le diagnostique.
In the trap : Strike at PSA
In our imaginations, we see the factory as a hyper-active beehive, where articulated arms and workers move, bustle and hurry. In our imaginations, the strike transfers this energy into conflict with management, the fight against the government, tensions with non-strikers, confrontations with the police, union actions and other AGMs.
While this reality exists, it does not occupy the entirety of the striker's time. It is not the totality of life in the shutdown plant. In fact, it's only a relative part of it.
Stopped production lines and unemployed workers are a given (even if this is less documented than the tensions that punctuate a strike). The deserted space, the emptiness that fills the building and the days, the idleness and boredom that lurk around and that we try to deceive, are rarely portrayed.
In these abandoned premises, there's an atmosphere of the end of a world, that of the working class, which financial interests are seeking to euthanize. And in the midst of this collapse, there are still people caught in the middle: anguished, sometimes resigned, but often refusing to accept the diagnosis.
