Vendredi saint à l'abbaye cistercienne du Rivet
A l'abbaye Sainte Marie du Rivet, le Vendredi saint s'ouvre en silence. L'entrée est marquée par un geste unique dans l'année: la prostration du prêtre. A l'issue, les moniales cisterciennes reprennent chants, prières et lectures avec l'abbé. Autre point fort de l'office : la présentation et la vénération de la croix. Le célébrant va chercher la croix puis remonte vers l'autel, en marquant une pause au milieu de l'église puis, la Mère abbesse et les moniales viennent se prosterner et embrasser la Croix. À la fin de l'office se déroule une communion eucharistique où la communauté cistercienne de l'abbaye puis les fidèles présents reçoivent les hosties consacrées la veille, lors de la messe du Jeudi saint.
Good Friday at the Cistercian Abbey of Rivet
At Sainte Marie du Rivet Abbey, Good Friday opens in silence. The entry is marked by a unique gesture during the year: the prostration of the priest. Then, the Cistercian nuns resume singing, prayers and readings with the abbot. Another strong point of the service: the presentation and veneration of the Cross. The celebrant goes to get the Cross then goes back to the altar, pausing in the middle of the church, then the mother abbess and the nuns come to prostrate themselves and kiss the Cross. At the end of the service, a Eucharistic communion takes place where the Cistercian community of the abbey then the faithful present receive the hosts consecrated the day before, during the Maundy Thursday mass.
