Place de la République, samedi 8 juin, La marche pour la fermeture des abattoirs, organisée par l'association antispéciste L214, a rassemblé entre
3 000 et 4 000 personnes selon les organisateurs et 2 300 selon la police. Différentes associations véganes ont répondu à l'appel, ainsi que le Parti animaliste. Pendant la marche « rouge » à l'image des militants tous vêtus d'un t-shirt rouge, on pouvait entendre pendant le cortège des slogans dénonçant l'atroce souffrance des animaux et exigeant l'abolition de leur exploitation. L'objectif du défilé étant de sensibiliser l'opinion publique, une Vegan place, regroupant des stands d'information et de nombreux commerçants végans, occupait également la Place.

As the aim of the parade was to raise public awareness, a Vegan square with information stands and many vegan traders also occupied Republic Square.
