Tournoi de football de l'association Spark15 effectuant de nombreuses activités pour donner aux jeunes réfugiés et migrants les moyens de participer activement a la construction d une société plus inclusive à Malte.
Cette série s'inscrit dans un travail en cours de réalisation sur plusieurs mois à Malte où la crise migratoire en Méditerranée prend une forme unique : celle d’un petit État insulaire (500 000 habitants) devenu, malgré lui, un concentré des problématiques européennes sur l’asile. Alors que l’Union Européenne durcit ses frontières, Malte reste un point de passage pour les embarcations parties de Libye. Les chiffres des arrivés sont modestes en apparence, mais conséquents pour ce micro-État où l’opinion se divise.
À Malte, les enjeux migratoires se vivent à échelle humaine. L’île de 316 km², soit la taille de l’agglomération lyonnaise, doit gérer des arrivées de bateaux éreintés sous les regards de plus en plus hostiles des résidents.
Afin de documenter la situation des réfugiés sur l’île et d’aller à leur rencontre, je vais travailler durant les prochains mois aux côtés de différentes organisations associations de l’île. En premier lieu, la Migrants Commission avec leur centre d’accueil de Balzan qui sera le premier point d’entrée pour documenter le quotidien des réfugiés et m’entretenir avec eux. Ouvert il y a plus de 20 ans, ce centre de la Migrants Commission accueillent une soixantaine de personnes, principalement des femmes et des mères célibataires.
Durant les mois prochains, mon reportage relatera les autres actions de la Migrants Commission pour l’intégration. Le champ sera également ouvert à d’autres associations et organisations telles que Spark 15 avec leurs activités sociales et sportives.
Raconter les migrations en Mer Méditerranée sera aussi l’occasion d’évoquer les conflits qui font rage sur les continents qui la bordent, notamment en se rapprochant des diasporas soudanaises et palestiniennes dont les territoires sont le théâtre de guerres atroces.

Football tournament organised by the Spark15 association, which carries out numerous activities to empower young refugees and migrants to actively participate in building a more inclusive society in Malta.
This series is part of a work in progress over several months in Malta, where the migration crisis in the Mediterranean takes on a unique form: that of a small island state (500,000 inhabitants) which, despite itself, has become a microcosm of European asylum issues. While the European Union is tightening its borders, Malta remains a transit point for boats leaving Libya. The numbers of arrivals are modest in appearance, but significant for this microstate where opinion is divided.
In Malta, migration issues are experienced on a human scale. The 316 km² island has to manage the arrival of exhausted boats under the increasingly hostile gaze of residents.
In order to document the situation of refugees on the island and meet them, I will be working alongside various organisations and associations on the island over the coming months. First and foremost, the Migrants Commission with their reception centre in Balzan, which will be the first point of entry for documenting the daily lives of refugees and talking to them. Opened more than 20 years ago, this Migrants Commission centre accommodates around 60 people, mainly women and single mothers.
Over the coming months, my report will cover the Migrants Commission's other integration initiatives. The scope will also be open to other associations and organisations such as Spark 15 with their social and sporting activities.
Reporting on migration in the Mediterranean Sea will also be an opportunity to discuss the conflicts raging on the continents that border it, particularly by focusing on the Sudanese and Palestinian diasporas, whose territories are the scene of horrific wars.
