Mossoul, deuxième d'Irak, fut jusqu'en 2017 la capitale de l'État Islamique. Théâtre du conflit pour la libération du pays et de destructions engendrées par Daech, la cité a encore une atmosphère de champ de bataille. Et pourtant, la vie a repris. Les enfants sont dans les rues, les hommes partagent le thé et les magasins sont ouverts. De nombreux chantiers sont en cours financés principalement par l'Unesco et d'autres organisations internationales afin de reconstruire le patrimoine millénaire exceptionnel du centre-ville historique.

Mosul - Five years after the liberation
Mosul, the second largest city in Iraq, was until 2017 the capital of the Islamic State. As the scene of the conflict for the liberation of the country and the destruction wrought by Daech, the city still has a battlefield atmosphere. And yet, life has resumed. Children are in the streets, men are sharing tea and shops are open. Numerous projects are underway, financed mainly by Unesco and other international organisations, to rebuild the exceptional millennial heritage of the historic city centre.
