Du Derek Martin né à la fin des années 30, dans le Ghetto de Detroit. A celui de 2012, qui pose de temps en temps ses valises à Saint Ouen, et collabore avec le gratin de la french touch, il ny a fina- lement pas grand chose.
Et si le titre Happy des DJ français C2C aux 20 millions de vues, l'a forcément mis un peu en orbite en 2012, il n'en a pas vraiment eu conscience, et a appréhendé sa collaboration récente avec Benjamin Rippert, compositeur de la bande de Laurent Garnier, depuis son petit nuage, une fois de plus en dehors des clous. C'est ainsi que l'album Save me, improbable rencontre d'un monument de la Soul char- nelle et impétueuse de Derek, avec l'univers incroyablement précis et affuté de la musique Électro, est né.
Juste l'opportunité de passer un peu de temps avec cette légende encore vivante de la musique Soul américaine, qui semble avoir toujours été spectateur de sa propre vie, le coeur grand ouvert, sans y rien comprendre. Et d?entendre cette voix énorme, au grain tendre, burinée par tant d'années de scène, et qui touche droit au coeur le public qu'il rencontre, où qu'il soit.
