Mandalarbres
Cette série est née suite à deux récents voyages en Finlande (dans les environs d'Helsinki) puis en Ecosse (autour de Fort William). Je l'ai vue venir à moi en me promenant dans leurs bois et forêts, en observant leurs arbres, l'un après l'autre - tels des êtres à part entière, chacun avec sa propre individualité -, et aussi les uns avec les autres, voire contre les autres - à l'image de la communauté qu'ils forment en vivant ensemble. Mon regard s'est attardé sur leurs formes, sur le cheminement de leurs racines, la gestuelle de leurs branches, leurs interactions invisibles, la lumière qu'ils renvoyaient.
Avec ces Mandalarbres, je me suis laissée (em)porter par mon attraction pour les arbres (tous les arbres), mon amour des mathématiques (de la géométrie, des symétries), ma propension à réorganiser la vie pour faire émerger d'autres dimensions (consciences et inconscientes, réelles et imaginaires, visibles et invisibles), et mes tentatives répétées d'incarner la partie et le tout dans une même représentation dans l'espoir de montrer que tout est interconnecté (car nous - quel que soit ce nous - n'existons pas sans les autres - quels que soient ces autres, par delà les frontières géographiques et temporelles). A mes yeux, il y a de l'infiniment grand et de l'infiniment petit dans ces Mandalarbres.
En cela, ils s'inscrivent parfaitement dans la continuité de mes travaux passés et de mes habituelles réflexions. Mais leur existence aujourd'hui est indéniablement liée à ma découverte - très embryonnaire - du chamanisme, et se présente ainsi comme l'expression des pensées vertigineuses que cela m'incite à formuler et de la connexion entière à la Nature qu'il invite à développer à l'heure où celle ci n'a jamais été autant fragilisée.
Mandalarbres
This series is born after two recent trips to Finland (around Helsinki) and Scotland (around Fort William). I saw her coming to me by walking through their woods and forests, by observing their trees, one after the other - like full beings, each with its own individuality - and also with each other, even against each other - like the community they form by living together. My gaze focused on their forms, on the path of their roots, the gestures of their branches, their invisible interactions, the light they reflected...
With these Mandalarbres, I let myself be carried away by my attraction for trees (all trees), my love of mathematics (geometry, symetries), my willingness to reorganize life to bring out other dimensions (consciences and unconscious, real and imaginary, visible and invisible), and my repeated attempts to embody the part and the whole in the same representation with the hope of showing that everything is interconnected (because we - whatever we are - do not exist without the others - whatever these others are, across geographical and temporal boundaries). To me, there is infinitely large and infinitely small in these Mandalarbres...
In this way, they are perfectly in line with the continuity of my past work and my usual thoughts. But their existence today is undeniably linked to my discovery - very embryonic - of shamanism, and thus presents itself as the expression of the vertiginous thoughts that it encourages me to formulate and of the entire connection to Nature that it invites us to develop at a time when it has never been so fragile.
