VENUS D'AILLEURS
Ne peut-on s'interroger sur la place réelle accordée à l'animal et à son milieu à l'heure actuelle dans une société modifiant et manipulant sans cesse le vivant ? Société qui en vient même à imaginer et créer des espaces protégés, « des enclos devenant huit-clos ».
Mon travail est de cet ordre-là, montage entre artifices, manipulations et sauvegardes. J'ai parfois joué sur la taille, la proportion des animaux par rapport au reste pour donner un côté étrange, ainsi que sur l'ombre qui reste souvent discrète afin de semer un doute sur leur réalité.
Ce déplacement « numérique » d'animaux sauvages mutés dans un autre habitat, questionne ainsi la place de l'animal sauvage dans notre monde en mutation artificielle où le « naturel » ne peut survivre qu'enclos ?
L'intention est de créer, par la photographie et son montage, une nature représentée, qui n'est plus originelle, ni indépendante de l'homme ; elle est manipulée, contrôlée, artificiellement, intensifiée par la frénésie du monde qui l'entoure.
En insérant des animaux dans un paysage inhabituel, je questionne les paradoxes entre l'idée « romantique » de la nature, sa « réalité » et notre « pouvoir » sur celle-ci.
Processus :
Ce projet s'est déroulé sur deux ans (de 2006 à 2008), entre les recherches et les prises de vues de paysages et d'animaux.
Avec le logiciel de retouche photo, j'ai assemblé deux images en tenant compte des ombres et lumières de
chacune. Avec le logiciel Photoshop, j'ai sculpté mon idée, jonglé avec les couleurs, la lumière et la tonalité. L'ombre des animaux reste discrète afin de semer un doute sur leur réalité.
J'ai reçu pour ce projet une aide à la création de la DRAC Occitanie. Cette série a été exposée dans une installation pendant l'été photographique de lectoure en 2009.
FROM ELSEWHERE
Can we not wonder about the real place given to the animal and its environment at the present time in a society that constantly modifies and manipulates living things? A society that has even come to imagine and create protected spaces, "enclosures that become eight-closets".
My work is of this order, a montage between artifice, manipulation and safeguarding. I have sometimes played with the size and proportion of the animals in relation to the rest to give a strange aspect, as well as with the shadows, which often remain discreet in order to cast doubt on their reality.
This "digital" displacement of wild animals mutated in another landscape than their own, thus questions the place of the wild animal in our artificially mutated world where the "natural" can only survive enclosed?
Through photography and its editing, the intention is to create a represented nature, which is no longer original, nor independent of man; it is manipulated, controlled, and artificially intensified by the frenzy of the world surrounding it.
By inserting animals into an unusual landscape, I question the paradoxes between the "romantic" idea of nature, its "reality" and our "power" over it.
Process:
This project took place over two years (from 2006 to 2008), between research and shooting landscapes and animals.
With the photo editing software, I assembled two images, taking into account the light and shade of each.
each one. With the Photoshop software, I sculpted my idea, juggling with the colours, the light and the tonality. The shadows of the animals remain discreet in order to cast doubt on their reality.
For this project I received a grant from the DRAC Occitanie. This series was exhibited in an installation during the photographic summer of Lectoure in 2009.
