Jazz in Marciac lance sa 48e édition
Autour de Jean-Louis Guilhaumon, maire de Marciac et président du festival, étaient réunis Carole Delga, présidente de la Région Occitanie, Alain Castanier, le préfet du Gers ainsi que Philippe Dupouy, président du Conseil départemental du Gers. Dans leurs interventions, chacun a souligné le rôle majeur du festival dans le rayonnement culturel, touristique et économique du territoire, ainsi que l’importance du soutien des collectivités à cet événement devenu une référence internationale. Dans son discours, Carole Delga a également exprimé son soutien aux sapeurs-pompiers et à l’ensemble des acteurs mobilisés dans la lutte contre les incendies.
Sous une chaleur écrasante, les festivaliers ont progressivement investi les rues de la bastide avant de rejoindre le célèbre chapiteau. Dès les premières heures de la soirée, l’effervescence était palpable dans tout le village.
La soirée affichait complet avec au moins 11 500 spectateurs réunis sous le grand chapiteau, confirmant une nouvelle fois l'immense popularité du festival.
Depuis près d'un demi-siècle, Jazz in Marciac transforme chaque été cette petite bastide gersoise en capitale européenne du jazz. La 48e édition s'annonce une nouvelle fois comme un rendez-vous incontournable, mêlant artistes de renommée internationale, découvertes musicales et public venu de toute la France et de l'étranger pour célébrer le jazz au cœur du Gers.
Jazz in Marciac opens its 48th edition
Jean-Louis Guilhaumon, Mayor of Marciac and President of the festival, was joined by Carole Delga, President of the Occitanie Region; Alain Castanier, Prefect of the Gers; and Philippe Dupouy, President of the Gers Departmental Council. In their speeches, each highlighted the festival’s major contribution to the region’s cultural, tourism and economic profile, as well as the importance of local authority support for an event that has become an international reference. Carole Delga also expressed her support for firefighters and all those involved in tackling the wildfires.
Despite the sweltering heat, festivalgoers gradually filled the streets of the historic bastide before making their way to the festival’s iconic big top. From the early evening onwards, a palpable sense of excitement spread throughout the village.
The evening was sold out, with at least 11,500 spectators gathered under the big top, once again confirming the festival’s immense popularity.
For nearly half a century, Jazz in Marciac has transformed this small town in the Gers into one of Europe’s jazz capitals every summer. The 48th edition once again promises to be an unmissable event, bringing together internationally renowned artists, emerging musical talent and audiences from across France and abroad to celebrate jazz in the heart of the Gers.
