L'ancien leader des Républicains a décidé de créer son Parti, l'UDR, pour promouvoir l'union des droites pour la République à la suite des difficultés internes à LR lors des élections législatives de 2024. Il prône désormais un choc de compétitivité en supprimant nombre d'administrations notamment environnementales et sociales, en mettant en place un spoil system dans l'administration etc. Il a présenté ses orientations à la presse le 28 janvier.
