CINÉMA | À l'Institut Lumière, le berceau éternel du 7e Art
En 1895, Auguste et Louis Lumière font de la ville de Lyon le berceau du 7ème Art en inventant le Cinématographe. Près de 130 ans plus tard, la villa des deux célèbres frères et le hangar qui habritait leur usine de pellicules photo, situés rue du Premier film dans le quartier Montplaisir, accueille les activités de l'Institut Lumière, fondé en 1982 par le critique Bernard Chardère et le cinéaste Bertrand Tavernier.
Il consacre son activité à la diffusion et à la conservation du patrimoine cinématographique mondial sous de nombreuses formes. Depuis 2009, l'institut organise le Festival Lumière, dédié aux films de patrimoine, qui se déroule au mois d'octobre dans les salles de cinéma de Lyon et de sa métropole.

In 1895, Auguste and Louis Lumière made Lyon the cradle of the 7th Art by inventing the Cinématographe. Almost 130 years later, the villa of the two famous brothers and the hangar that housed their film factory, located on rue du Premier Film in the Montplaisir district, are home to the Institut Lumière, founded in 1982 by film critic Bernard Chardère and filmmaker Bertrand Tavernier.
It is dedicated to the dissemination and preservation of the world's cinematographic heritage in its many forms. Since 2009, the institute has organized the Lumière Festival, dedicated to heritage films, which takes place every October in cinemas in Lyon and the surrounding area.
